Once a working garage at the heart of Kaikōura, originally serving the community with fuel and mechanical repairs, this iconic space was thoughtfully transformed in 2013 into Groper Garage Bar & Restaurant.
Today, the venue blends industrial character with contemporary style. A spacious layout offers plenty of seating, complemented by two large open fireplaces that create a warm, inviting atmosphere year-round. With live TV, pool and darts, and a calendar of regular events, it’s a relaxed yet vibrant space enjoyed by both locals and visitors.
Behind the bar, you’ll find fresh, cold beer always flowing on tap, alongside a carefully curated range of beverages to suit every taste. From premium wines and spirits to low- and no-alcohol options, the drinks menu is designed to be inclusive, while our cocktail list delivers both classic favourites and modern creations.
The food menu is equally considered, featuring handcrafted pizzas, premium Stonegrill ® experiences, and a generous selection of burgers and fresh salads - offering something for every appetite.
